Suffering can end by eliminating your desires 4. The right meditation The Sermon on the Mount emphasizes that God favors those who suffer, that suffering is good. Buddha says to rid yourself of all suffering by not giving into your desires. Buddha tells his followers the world is evil, and one should resist temptation. Jesus proclaims that the world is good but sin shadows over. Comparing Sermons Buddha states in his sermon that none have sinned, yet Jesus tells his followers that all have sinned, they must ask God for forgiveness. Buddha, who was once Siddhartha Gautama, received the name Buddha once he became enlightened. He leaves his royal family and goes off and find truth in the world. He has this great realization that the world he lives in is imperfect. Buddha achieves the state of Nirvana* with the four noble truths and the eightfold path. Buddha uses these to teach his followers the way they should live their lives. Eightfold Path The Sermon on the Mount is found in chapters 5-7 in the book of Matthew. Jesus preaches to the people to do good in the world. Early on, it was believed that those with wealth, good health, power, etc. were favored by God. However, Jesus comes to say that this is not true. He tells people that God favors the unfortunate—those who may not be wealthy but are rich with righteousness, those who do good things for others even when they are given so little.

Transcript: Ecclesiastes 9: 17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Matthew 6: 9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” Matthew 11:27-29 27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Romans 10 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” This world is not my home I'm just passing through + I Timothy 2:1-3 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,

Transcript: RECAP of a Godly Woman 5 Attitudes Proverbs 31: 29, NIV "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." START BIBLE TEXT GENEROUS 1st GENEROUS Generosity should define the life of every Christian, and this is more than Christians being “nice.” As we give freely of our time, money, and abilities, we’re demonstrating our reliance on a God of unlimited resources who wants to bless others through us. The Widow of Zarephath And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.” And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, “Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.” 1 Kings 17:7-12 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” I am going to be generous...especially when I feel I can't afford to be TRUSTING 5th TRUSTING This one is perhaps the most important one of all... because our ability to live from each of the attitudes above depends on whether or not we really trust God. Prophet Anna, daughter of Penuel There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. Luke 2: 36-38 “God is going to give you more than you asked for.” Ephesians 3:20 Trust Him. “I’m going to trust God to come through for me. VULNERABLE 2nd VULNERABLE able to be easily physically, emotionally, or mentally hurt, influenced, or attacked - Cambridge dictionary Matthew 5:4 “I’m going to live vulnerable…even though others will mock" Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” able to make or usually making careful judgments about the quality of similar things. - Cambridge Dictionary DISCERNING 3rd DISCERNING A godly woman... A discerning woman has to know who NOT to listen to. In this day of information overload, we hear tens, if not hundreds, of different voices in any given day. It really is phenomenal. Facebook is a prime example of voices that compete for our attention. Discerning Woman in the Bible Joshua 2: 9-11, NIV Rahab 9 - and said to them, "I know that the Lord has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who lie in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 - We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 - When we heard of it, our hearts melted and everyone's courage failed because of you, or the Lord your God is God in heaven and above and on the earth below. “I’m going to guard my heart by protecting my ears from the world’s noise.” I am.. a person who is employed to do work for another person, esp. to work in another person’s home doing jobs such as cooking and cleaning -Cambridge Dictionary SERVANT 4th SERVANT Naaman's Servant Girl 2 Kings 5 Naaman's Servant Girl Mark 10: 43-45 “I’m going to be a servant. This is what it means to be truly great.” Mark 10: 43 - 45 43 - Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 44 - and whoever wants to be first must be slave o all. 45 - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom or many.
