Transcript: Personal Fitness :) what is fitness? The state of being fit capability of the body doing physical activity. The Rewards What can it prevent? Physical activity can prevent diseases and illnesses. Why do we need to? It helps to control your weight and build stronger bones. How does phsyical activity make you feel better? Helps you social and academically. It increases self esteem. Lowers level on stress. Why do we warm up? Before a workout you should warm up. You warm up so that your body is ready for the activity and to get your heart rate up. It also reduces the risk of an injury. Warm up and cool down exercises Slow jog: to prepare joints Walking: at a steady pace March: in place Knee lifts: Controlling the body Heel Digs: A simple workout to lower the heart rate You should do warm up and cool down for 3 to 5 minutes Why do we cool down? Cooling down is just as important as warming up. You should cool dwon after a workout seccion to return your heart rate to its original pace. The purpose of cooling down is to not pull a muscule and to reduce muscul soreness. Components of fitness! The conversion of mangrove forests to commercial aquaculture ponds is a major threat in Andhra Pradesh, and in some places fishing cats are killed. The fishing cat is included on CITES Appendix II and protected by national legislation over most of its range. Transcript: What is the difference between Fitness and Health? Fitness is how much excercise you do and how long it takes you to recover. Health is how immune you are to diseases. If you are more immune to illneses then you are more healthy. Just like if it takes you less time to recover then you are more fit. How can you stay Fit and Healthy? There are a lot of ways to stay fit and healthy. here are some of them: Having a healthy diet Excercising regularly Not smoking Not having too much alcohol at one time How to take your pulse: Human skeletal system Joints are points where bones meet and they have a socket which allow you to move your bones The main Parts of the Skeletal System are: Skull Ribs Spine Humerous Knee Femur What is so special about the ribs? The rib cage is the collection of bones (ribs) that protect your vital organs: your heart and your lungs. without these organs blood and oxygen you would not circilate around your body and you would die. What is a joint and how does it work? A joint is where two bones meat. It works with muscles to move the bones. If you injure your joint is injured you may have seperated the bones. This happens when a joint moves from it's place and two bones touch each other that aren't supposed to touch each other. E.G: The shoulder, when the joint moves and the clavicle and the scapula come together. Why is important to keep your skeletal system healthy? It is important to keep the skeletal system healthy because if our bones grow week then our organs will become voulnerable. You can keep your skeletal system healthy by consuming lots of calcium. You get calcium from most dairy products such as cheese and milk. The Muscular System The human muscular system consits of many muscles that are used to power the human body and to move your bones. Muscles are Strengthened by excrising, when you excircise you tear your muscles then they grow back into bigger muscles. When you tear your muscles you need to remember to eat more protein than you usually would because protein helps rebuild muscles. What is Mitochondria and what does it do? Mitochondria is the organelle in our cells that convert glucose into a form of energy that our body can use called ATP. (Adenosine TriPhosphate) Without mitochondria we would die because the muscles in our body wouldn't get enough energy. Why do we need a healthy muscular system? If you do not have a healthy muscualr system then your muscles will not be able to move as easily. It will also take more energy to use them which means you need to eat more food. Digestive system The digestive system consists of many main body parts and they are what digest your food and convert it to energy. The main body parts of the digestive system are: Stomach Liver Small intestine Large intestine Esophagus The function of the stomach is what digests the food after it has been passed through the esophagus and into the stomach, digestion is when the stomach breaks down the food so that it can be used as energy to fuel our bodies. The liver is what filters all of the toxins in the liquids that we drink. Drinking too much alchohol can cause you to have an unhealthy liver. The small intestine is what absorbs all the nutrients out of the liquids from the stomach and then passes the excess liquids through the small intestine which is what we urinate. The large intestine is where all of the solids that have been in our stomach go and that is what creates our phesis. It is very important for your digestive system to stay healthy because if you have an unhealthy digestive system you can have diahrea or constaption. Constapation is when you dont have enough fiber and diahrea is when you have too much or if you catch a virus. Circulatory system The circulatory system is system of veins and organs which transport blood around your body. Your heart is the main contributer to the circulatory system. The heart is what pumps all of the blood around the body. Your blood is pumped from your heart into your arteries and transported throughout your body It is important to have a healthy circulatory system or else you will get blood clots and it will lead to diabetes which can lead to death. The Respiratory System Your respitory system starts working harder when you do excirsise, thats why if you smoke and have bad lungs you aren't able to do much excirsise and get winded quicker What is the Respiratory System? The respiratory system is all of the parts in your body that help oxygen circulate around your body. It includes... Lungs Airways Repiratory Muscles (Biggest one is the Diaphragm) What is inhalation and exhalation? When you inhale, breathe air into your lungs. When you exhale you push the air out through your body and lungs. Does your chest get bigger when you breathe out or does it just look that way? The Diaphragm is a dome shaped organ inside your chest. When you exhale your diaphragm increases by up to 75%. When you inhale your diaphragm flattens. This makes the chest seem bigger and
